Oh, how I love you, Summer...

This is *finally* the time the I #AmWriting! My 'day job' during the school year as a SpEd teacher takes up so much time... planning instruction, SpEd paperwork, curriculum and training requirements, email responses... blah blah... all so damn time consuming. I marvel at authors who can juggle both a professional non-fiction/non-author job, and a focus on their book and the world they've created. I have only been able to manage that during 'off' school times like the two weeks of winter break, or the single week of spring break, but summer is my time-- gleefully!-- to finally switch careers! As much as I'd love to be a full-time published author, I have a mortgage and a car payment, and an ever-starving sixteen year old still at home, so a guaranteed paycheck is a must.

But there's nowhere like #Alaska to soak up the greatness of summer! Days last into never-ending and gorgeous light-filled nights that contribute to outstanding motivation for night-owl writers like myself.

It's the only time I can earnestly disappear into my beloved enmeshed world of fantastic characters, the glorious setting of my home state, and the rich nine Norse worlds that too few are aware of. It's my prayer that someday a wider audience will fall for the combination bound up in my story as I have.

Until that incredible day... I will drink my iced coffee slowly, take the lasagna out of the oven shortly, try to remember to do my squats later, and get my ass back to work.
